McClain Bryant Macklin, JD, MBA is Director of Policy for Mayor Sly James of Kansas City, Missouri. McClain manages the Mayor's policy staff; advises the Mayor on a variety of policy issues, with an emphasis on economic development, housing, technology, innovation, workforce development and entrepreneurship; manages the Mayor's leadership positions in several national organizations and initiatives such as the United States Conference of Mayors, the African American Mayors Association, the federal ConnectHome and TechHire initiatives; and works with city staff and community organizations to implement the policy interests of the Mayor.  Formerly, McClain practiced law for 7 years at one of the Nation's largest law firms where she specialized in Campaign Finance and Ethics, White Collar Litigation and Government Affairs, Government Affairs and Public Policy. She has a variety of political and civic experience, including her current service as an elected Trustee of the Metropolitan Community Colleges and several non-profit boards, and having previously served as a national co-chair of the Ready for Hillary PAC and regional lead for Generation44, as a mayoral appointee to the Kansas City Board of Parks and Recreation Commissioners.
